A Season of Change...

This past week has been one of milestones for Moses. Last Thursday he turned six years old and then yesterday he began first grade. We had a great birthday day for Mo. We went back to school shopping with some birthday money he had gotten. He LOVED picking out his own clothes and I LOVED watching him! We had a small family birthday on Thursday and then he had a few friends over for a kids party on Saturday....a first for us but we had fun.
Yesterday was another step of letting go and it was harder than I thought. The night before school started I was tucking Moses into bed and he whispered "Mom can you pray for me?" I knew he was referring to school and as Mark and I prayed tears were rolling down my cheeks. Why does this feel so hard? He will be gone all day now under someone else's care and it is a deeper step in truly trusting and releasing him to the Lord. It is awesome though that we know his teacher and that he will be riding the same bus with the same bus driver as last year and hopefully know some of the same kids from kindergarten.
Yesterday morning Moses was so nervous and as much as I was trying to ease his fears I was nervous myself so much so that I forgot to take any pictures and forgot his lunch! What a mom! Then he came home looking awful. He had been complaining of not feeling good that morning but I just thought it was his nerves but by the time he came off the bus he had a fever and was looking pretty ill. He ended up falling asleep on the couch before 6:30. Talk about a first day of school! He is home sick today but will hopefully be back in the groove tommorow.
Moses, we are proud of the big six year old and first grader that you are!
